*** SDNY SEEKING PUBLIC COMMENT ON THE COURT’S § 1983 PILOT PLAN. ***

posted Apr 29, 2013, 5:47 AM by Pete Weinman   [ updated Apr 29, 2013, 5:52 AM ]
The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) invites members of the bar and other interested parties to comment on the Plan for Certain § 1983 Cases Against the City of New York (§ 1983 Plan). Written comments should be submitted to Rebecca_Price@nysd.uscourts.gov by Monday, June 3.

In addition, the court will hold a public forum on the § 1983 Plan on Tuesday, June 11 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. in room 850 of the Daniel Patrick Moynihan United States Courthouse (500 Pearl Street). Because the time available for speakers at the forum is limited—speakers will be asked to limit their remarks to five minutes or less—priority will be given to those who have submitted written comments. Written comments should be no more than five double-spaced pages and should reflect a familiarity with, and preferably litigation experience under, the § 1983 Plan. If you wish to speak publicly at the forum, please so indicate on your written submission. Those who are invited to speak will be notified by June 5.
Please visit the court's website at http://www.nysd.uscourts.gov/courtrules for a White Paper discussing § 1983 Plan; a copy is also attached to this notice.
