We are pleased to inform you that the New York State court system is now issuing notifications about court closings, delayed openings, schedule changes and other emergencies by text message through Twitter. Emergency announcements will also continue to be available on our web site (www.nycourts.gov) and through our public information phone (1-800-COURTNY).
You do not need a Twitter account to sign up for or receive these emergency text messages.
Signing up to receive text messages about court emergencies is easy:
• Text: follow nycourtsnotice to address 40404. You will receive an automated reply stating that you are "followingnycourtsnotice" and inviting you to "join the conversation" on Twitter (you do not need to join).
• To stop receiving court system Twitter messages, text: off nycourtsnotice to 40404.
Please note that the court system Twitter account does not accept reply messages. Also note that text messaging charges may apply.
