LANCE P. ARMSTRONG Sr.

ARMSTRONG Lance P. Armstrong, Sr., of Farmingdale, NJ, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ. Lance was born in Manhattan, but was raised in Tottenville and Oakwood. He was a lifelong Staten Islander, until moving to Farmingdale, NJ three and a half years ago. Lance was a graduate of St. Peter's High School in Staten Island, NY; Fordham University in Bronx, NY and St. John's University School of Law in Brooklyn, NY. Lance proudly served our country in the United States Air Force, achieving the rand of 2nd Lieutenant with the Office of Special Investigations while stationed at Hanscom AFB in Bedford Mass. during the Vietnam War. During his college years, he served as a lifeguard at Great Kills Park, Staten Island, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He continued his love of the beach and swimming throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling and was a great movie buff. He was known as a very gregarious man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a practicing attorney for over 40 years and was the senior partner of The Law Firm of Lance P. Armstrong, PLLC, Staten Island, NY. He was a member of the Richmond County Bar Association, Founding Chairman of the Richmond County Bar Association Elder Law Committee, Staten Island Trial Lawyers Association, New York State Bar Association, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He was actively involved in the Democratic Party on Staten Island during the 1980's. Lance was predeceased by his parents, Lancelot Armstrong, Alice Armstrong and his stepfather, Arnold Bianda. He found joy in his family and especially his grandchildren. This past June he celebrated the graduation of five grandchildren, two from elementary school, two from high school and one from college. With his younger grandchildren, he took great pleasure in challenging them to learn unfamiliar words with his "word of the day" and being the center of their attention. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda R. Armstrong; his children, Linda J. Bouve and her husband Michael of West Deptford, NJ; Tracy Conte and her husband Joseph of Staten Island, NY; Lance P. Armstrong, Jr. and his wife Alice of Toms River, NJ; Karen A. Koedding and her husband Glen of Middletown, NJ and Lawrence J. Ambrose of Staten Island, NY. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Thomas, Steven, and Joseph Bouve; Margaret, Liane, Caroline and Adam Conte; Rachel, Catherine and Lance Matthew Armstrong; and Kirsten and Mackenzie Koedding. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 1-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10 A.M. at St. Leo the Great R.C. Church, Lincroft, NJ. Interment will be private.
