STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Anthony R. Caputo, 73, of Todt Hill, who is remembered for his dedication to his family and his profession, died Wednesday at home.

Born on Staten Island, he lived in Grant City and Dongan Hills before settling in Todt Hill. He later divided his time between that home and a residence in Eldred, N.Y.

A graduate of Curtis High School, Mr. Caputo earned his bachelor’s degree from Wagner College, Grymes Hill, and received his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law, Brooklyn.

Mr. Caputo was a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Richmond County Bar Association. He retired in 2007.

He served in the U.S. Army National Guard in the early 1960s.

“He enjoyed history greatly and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the Civil War,” said his wife, the former Raffaela Cermola. “He loved his family, and he looked forward to teaching his grandson life’s lessons. He was a man of great loyalty and integrity.”

Mr. Caputo also was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a parishioner of St. Christopher’s R.C. Church, Grant City.

Surviving, along with Raffaela, his wife of 49 years, are his son, Christopher; his daughter, Daniella Caputo; a brother, Dr. Richard; a sister, Barbara Caputo, and a grandson.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Colonial Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Christopher’s Church. Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
