MARCH 18, 2012

"If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves."

- Thomas Edison

In 2011, I completed four out of five NYRR borough half marathons, gaining entry into the NYC Half Marathon this March 2012!

I have decided to train with Team In Training to first - raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) because there is no cure - and second - to see the best half marathon time that I can run with the training program and amazing coaches of TNT! This will be my fourth Team In Training event and I plan on continuing to raise money with them until there is a cure.

All of our lives have been affected by leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and all blood cancers and cancer generally. I am raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and all other blood cancers and cancer generally and stop these diseases from taking any more lives.

I am also training for this event in memory of my grandmother Jennie Passarello who passed away in 1981 from liver cancer. There have been many new initiatives developed since that time which fund cancer research and provide programs for patients and families. LLS has contributed to an unprecedented rise in survival rates for some people with cancers. The relative five-year survival rate for people with leukemia, for example, nearly quadrupled in the past 48 years. And Hodgkin lymphoma is now considered one of the most curable forms of cancer, thanks to radiation and chemotherapy.

Funding for research and patient support is crucial in the battle against blood cancers. Please donate what you can to support my participation - no amount is too big or too small. Your donation is making a difference in the lives of those battling these cancers everywhere.

Please note that every donation is 100% tax deductible!
